Sources & licences

Every figure on this site comes from a named source. This page lists all 121 datasets from 51 publishers, with the terms under which we use them and the pages they appear on.

How we use other people's data

  • Official statistics first. Most data come from German public bodies (Destatis, the state statistical offices, the Federal Employment Agency, the Federal Motor Transport Authority, the Federal Criminal Police Office, the Robert Koch Institute and others). They publish under the Data Licence Germany – Attribution – 2.0 (dl-de/by-2-0) or comparable terms that allow reuse with attribution.
  • Always credited. Each page, each CSV file and each downloadable image names its source. When you reuse our maps, please keep that credit.
  • Third-party rankings and associations (university rankings, GfdS baby names, DeepState) are quoted with attribution as individual figures; we do not republish their full tables.
  • Our own analyses (Google Trends, OpenStreetMap counts) appear only in the labelled Fun facts section with the method shown. Data derived from OpenStreetMap is © OpenStreetMap contributors and available under the Open Database License (ODbL).
  • Our work (maps, charts, texts, compiled CSV files) is licensed CC BY 4.0. Spotted a mistake or a missing credit? Write to us at info@germanydivided.com.
